Reflections on VBS

We averaged about 35% less children at Vacation Bible School this year. At first glance, that is a sad thought. But, spiritually speaking, this was one of the best weeks we have had a Cambridge Baptist. Three things are clear.

1. God is Good.

"Nothing thrills the soul like Jesus." God was glorified this week. One child put his faith in Christ for salvation. It was certain. Many bible school professions of faith are not genuine (speaking from personal experience). I'm not sure that much worse can be done to children than to convince them that Jesus lives in his or her heart when he doesn't. But one child very clearly received salvation this year.

2. God is Sovereign.

Providence is always 'awe'some. When things come together, and we have absolutely nothing to do with it, we know God is in control. God has been putting things in place for His name to be glorified at Cambridge Baptist Church. God brought certain people from Kentucky, brought certain children from Gautier, and demonstrated that He is on the throne now, working out His plan. It is humbling to experience the soveriegnty of God. We are forced to step back and give credit where crediti due.

3. God is Working.

God is at work in our church. That was made abundatly clear this week. God is setting the stage to do amazing things through Cambridge Baptist. If you do not want to see our church grow--to see lost souls come to faith in Christ, go to church somewhere else. God is going to save people. We need to follow His will. We know that he is working; we need to get on board.
